In a powerful demonstration of vision, faith, and strategic commitment to the next generation, the Meridian Presbytery of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, marked a historic milestone on Sunday, March 22, 2026, with the official inauguration of the Evangelical Presbyterian Students’ Union at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (EPSU–UPSA Chapter). The event, held to the glory of God, stands as a significant step in the Church’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, which places renewed emphasis on campus ministry as a vital pathway for nurturing Christ-centered student leadership.

The colourful and spiritually uplifting service drew a distinguished gathering of clergy, church leaders, students, alumni, and well-wishers from across the Evangelical Presbyterian fraternity. Leading the delegation from the Presbytery was the Synod Clerk, Rev. Wilson Dumasi, accompanied by key figures of the Meridian Presbytery, including a member of the Church’s Board of Trustees, Pr. Joy D.S. Amegbe, the Presbytery Youth facilitator, Rev. Mat-Joe Boateng, the Presbytery’s Account Clerk and Treasurer, the Chairperson of the Finance Committee, and the Female GAEC Member, Pr. Bettina Bogart. Their presence, alongside representatives from the EPSU National Council, Meridian Presbytery EPSU executives, the vibrant EPSU Legon family, alumni of EPSU UPSA, and members from the Accra College of Education chapter, underscored the deep unity and shared purpose driving this mission.

Delivering the sermon on the theme “The Voice That Gives Life,” Rev. Wilson Dumasi called on all present to embrace a deeper walk with Christ, emphasizing the life-transforming power of God’s Word in shaping destinies and guiding purpose. His message resonated profoundly with the congregation, setting a spiritual tone for the new chapter being birthed.

Far beyond a ceremonial launch, the inauguration signals a prophetic and strategic advancement in youth ministry within the Church. It reflects a deliberate effort by the Church to raise a generation of mission-driven, Christ-centered leaders equipped to influence campuses, transform communities, and extend the impact of the Gospel to the nations. With the establishment of the UPSA Chapter, the Presbytery continues to strengthen its campus ministry footprint, adding to existing chapters at the University of Ghana and the Accra College of Education—all within the Meridian Presbytery. This growing network of vibrant student fellowships stands as a model of intentional youth engagement, and a call is being extended to other Presbyteries across the Church to emulate the Meridian Presbytery’s example in developing and expanding campus ministry.

A highlight of the occasion was the heartfelt recognition of Rev. Dr. Mrs. Bridget Ben-Naimah, whose visionary leadership, tireless dedication, and unwavering commitment were instrumental in bringing the EPSU–UPSA Chapter to life. Her role in guiding and nurturing the process was widely acknowledged as foundational to the success of the initiative, drawing gratitude and admiration from all present.

The inauguration also reaffirmed the Church’s structured approach to strengthening EPSU engagement across all levels, as outlined in the Strategic Plan commencing in 2026. Among the key directives, the Moderator of the General Assembly is tasked, as part of his/her Key Performance Indicators, to visit at least one tertiary institution with an active EPSU each quarter. Presbytery Moderators and District Ministers are similarly mandated to maintain consistent engagement through regular visits to tertiary and Senior High School institutions within their jurisdictions. Districts are to adopt and support EPSUs, establish campus ministry committees, and expand the presence of the Union, while Presbyteries take responsibility for tertiary-level ministry. At the grassroots, local congregations are called upon to actively support student members, strengthening the bond between the Church and its youthful constituency.
As the service drew to a close, a sense of hope, purpose, and divine direction filled the atmosphere. The birth of the EPSU–UPSA Chapter is not merely an addition to the Church’s structures—it is a declaration of intent, a seed sown into the future of the Church and society.

Indeed, with faith as its foundation and vision as its compass, the future of EPSU UPSA shines bright—purposeful, impactful, and guided by the unmistakable hand of God. To Him alone be all the glory.
