The Evangelical Presbyterian Development and Relief Agency (EPDRA) has reaffirmed its commitment to adolescent health and education by donating sanitary pads to three Evangelical Presbyterian schools in the Ho Municipality as part of activities commemorating World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026.
The beneficiary institutions were EPCG Hoffmann Vocational Institute (Activity Center), Ho Kpodzi E.P. Basic βAβ School, and Ho Dome E.P. Basic School.
This yearβs global celebration was observed under the theme βTogether for a #PeriodFriendlyWorldβ, highlighting the need for collective action to ensure dignity, health, and equal opportunity for girls and women.
Leading the EPDRA delegation was the Acting Executive Director, Ms. Eyram Oforiwaa Wordekpor, accompanied by Project Manager Mr. Edem Asafo and Accountant Ms. Idaya Hamed. The team not only presented the sanitary pads but also engaged students in an interactive session on menstrual hygiene management.
Ms. Wordekpor, in her remarks, emphasized the importance of proper menstrual hygiene practices among adolescent girls, urging them to prioritize their health and personal well-being. She noted that the initiative was designed to break the stigma surrounding menstruation while equipping young girls with essential products to manage their cycles confidently.
Students were further enlightened on EPDRAβs broader interventions in health, education, and community development. School authorities and pupils expressed heartfelt appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful.
Observed annually on May 28, World Menstrual Hygiene Day seeks to raise awareness on menstrual health and advocate for universal access to hygiene products and education. EPDRAβs outreach in Ho stands as a practical demonstration of this mission, ensuring that no girlβs education is hindered by a lack of menstrual support.
