Today marks the beginning of Advent—a sacred season of expectation, reflection, and preparation. As we celebrate 178 years of God’s faithfulness to the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, we are reminded that the Lord who came still comes and will come again.
Jeremiah 33:14–16 assures us that “the days are coming” when God will fulfill His gracious promise. In 1 Thessalonians 3:9–13, we are called to grow in love and holiness “so that He may strengthen our hearts for His coming.” And in Luke 21:25–36, Jesus urges us to stay awake and alert, for His return will be sudden and glorious.
Advent is not passive waiting—it is active preparation. It is the posture of a people who lift up their souls to God (Psalm 25:1–10), trusting in His mercy and walking in His truth. Let us not be weighed down by the cares of this world, but stand ready, with hearts full of hope and eyes fixed on the promise of Emmanuel—God with us.
As we wear blue and purple, the colors of royalty and repentance, may we prepare not just our homes and sanctuaries, but our hearts. For the King is coming. Let every soul make room. #advent
