The Department of Mission and Evangelism (M&E) is the spiritual engine of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana. It embodies the Great Commission, guiding the Church in proclaiming the Gospel, nurturing discipleship, and expanding the reach of the faith both locally and globally. Through its leadership and programmes, the department ensures that evangelism remains at the heart of the Church’s mission.

Leadership & Appointment

The department is led by the Director of Mission and Evangelism, appointed by the General Assembly Executive Council upon the recommendation of the Standing Committee, and subject to the approval of the General Assembly. This process underscores the Church’s commitment to appointing leaders who combine spiritual depth with strategic vision.

Core Responsibilities

Evangelism Strategy & Guidance

Studying and advising on effective methods of evangelism for Congregations, Groups, and Individuals, while encouraging evangelistic programmes throughout the Church

Encouraging and guiding Bible Study within the Church to deepen faith and understanding of God’s Word.

Formulating policies for the guidance and supervision of emerging Evangelical Presbyterian Church congregations both in Ghana and abroad

Developing policies and guidelines for the operations of specialised Ministries, ensuring their alignment with the Church’s mission

Organising seminars, training sessions, and workshops to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Ministries and evangelistic activities

Coordinating the work of the various Committees under the department and submitting regular reports to the General Assembly Executive Council through the Standing Committee.

Accountability Structure

The Director of Mission and Evangelism is responsible to the Standing Committee through the Clerk of the General Assembly, ensuring that the department’s work remains accountable, transparent, and aligned with the governance framework of the Church.
